I am co-ordinating a major mountain flying trip to Colombia in February 2009. This is a trip for experienced mountain pilots, who wish to improve their viedo and filmmaking skills. See descriptions below.
The excursions are a combination of paragliding and filmmaking workshops combining the two disciplines in spectacular mountain settings. Being fit is needed as trekking and hiking to many locations is required Background on www.explorex.net , scroll back pages of articles from here. COLOMBIA February 10th – March 2nd , 2009
Paragliding In The Heart of the World (Sierra Nevada De Santa Marta, Colombia Colombia is safest it has ever been in more than fifty years and tourism is flourishing again. This is another unique paragliding/filming guided trip to The Sierra Nevada De Santa Marta , February 10th to March 2nd, 2009. This is another serious mountain flying expedition to this amazing region . Peter Chrzanowski is organizing a rare expedition to the area. Jim Orava of Pemberton BC will be the paraglide expert on hand to give tips, assistance, tandem flights to locals and filming air dolly. The crew will fly to Valledupar , a city of 150,000 . Then the team will head up to Nabusimake , the last outpost before the road ends on these southern flanks of the Sierra. From here everyone will take their camping gear and head up with mules towards the Summits of Cristobal Colon and Simon Bolivar , both nearly 6000 meters high. Various launch possibilities will be explored and if conditions are right a thirty kilometre flight to the beaches of the Caribbean is a possible objective. This is one of the most remote and exotic mountain ranges in the world.. The area has the most diverse flaura and fauna on this planet. The flanks of The Sierra are inhabited by the reclusive Kogi, Arsario and Arhuaco tribes. Peter has done two expeditions to the area. Again you can read reports on www.explorex.net , go to NEWS FLASH and scroll back through Peter’s Colombia articles and pictures. Another write-up can be found on www.Advance.ch news website.

There would be two weeks allotted for approach, hiking and flying, and return from the mountains , acclimatization and of course flying as much as we can. The last week we would spend relaxing with Ritchie and flying with www.colombiaparagliding.com , in Bucaramanga and the Chicamocha canyon. As well as Medellin. The price for the three weeks is again $4200 per person (Plus airfare to Valledupar). During the expedition Peter would be coaching on documentary filming techniques for those interested in filmmaking aspects of the trip. Footage would be reviewed at hotels and later with Colombia Paragliding in Bucaramanga. Unlike on Peru trip people would not be able to join in part of the trip as we are in a very remote and isolated area. .
